Seasonal Skin Woes?

We’ve Got the Solutions to Your Stress

With the busiest time of the year fast approaching, many people will experience increased forms of stress. The holiday season is statistically the most stressful time for women in the US. Autumn also means shorter days, and for many with Seasonal Affective Disorder, this can lead to mood changes, low energy and depression; which can also add to our stress.

Constant stress can lead to increased health problems-both serious and superficial.

Combined with the colder, harsher weather, all this stress can wreak havoc on our skin, so this week we’re looking at solutions to your seasonal skin woes.

Breakouts? Don’t Breakdown

Stress is an uninvited guest. Last week we discussed how mindfulness can help decrease stress, improving not only our mental health, but our bodies, too. But what happens when the damage to our skin is already done? Mindfulness may help us accept what we can’t change, but there are plenty of ways to get rid of that unwanted acne once it’s there.

The last thing you want to do is pop that pimple out of sheer frustration.

Here are some alternatives to clearing up your troubled skin:

Silk PeelsThis soothing treatment gently exfoliates and freshens skin. Unlike harsh microdermabrasion treatments, Silk Peels are relaxing affairs. With a combination of topical dermaceuticals to stimulate cell regeneration, as well as a vacuum technique that lifts instead of scrubs, Silk Peels are the perfect solution for oily, overworked skin. Silk Peels are great for treating breakouts, eczema, and dry, cracking skin.

Chemical Peels These traditional peels are an excellent way to restore skin that’s been through the seasonal wringer. Whether you’re suffering from oily, acne-prone skin, or skin that’s been damaged by the drier, windier months, chemical peels can nourish and revitalize any skin type. Salicylic Peels are used to treat excessive oil production, while Lactic Peels help sensitive skin retain moisture, staying plump and fresh in the cooler weather. Finally, Glycolic Peels can help in the regeneration of collagen, smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles.

Blu-U Photodynamic Therapy – If you deal with chronic or severe acne, then Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) might be for you. PDT uses a combination topical cream, called a photosensitizer, and blue light to dramatically reduce skin bacteria and excessive oil production. The photosensitizer is first absorbed through the pores and into the sebaceous glands, reacting with the P. Acnes bacteria. Then, targeted blue light is applied to the affected areas, eliminating the bacteria that causes breakouts. PDT is a great solution to a reoccurring problem.
