The Success is in the ScienceJuly 5th, 2017 by Dr. Michael Glass
Why CoolSculpting isn’t Your Traditional Fat Loss Treatment
Our Facebook Live feed of the new CoolSculpting Cool Petite last week was a huge success. Thanks to the folks at Zeltiq, the company behind CoolSculpting, and the amazing Esteem Team, we showed off the ease and benefits of CoolSculpting, and gave away a couple of free treatments, too.
This got me thinking about the success of CoolSculpting, and why it’s been so popular, not only for Esteem, but for lots of other medical spas.
CoolSculpting’s success has to do with its science.
We’ve talked before about the advantages of applying scientific knowledge to the area of cosmetics and aesthetics. Understanding how our bodies work is the key to living happier, healthier lives. The science behind CoolSculpting is its greatest advantage, but I also think that the scientific process that Zeltiq uses to constantly improve its technology is equally important.
The evidence is in the expertise: the results of the CoolSculpting technology have been documented and published in over 60 peer-reviewed abstracts and papers.
Not only does CoolSculpting work, but the benefits have been tested over and over again in clinical trials and studies.
That’s great to know speaking as a doctor, but what it really means is that patients can expect to see real, consistent results with CoolSculpting.
What Is It?
For the uninitiated, CoolSculpting is a non-surgical fat loss treatment that uses the science of Cryolipolysis to target and freeze away unwanted fat cells.
CoolSculpting is an FDA-cleared alternative to traditional fat loss procedures like liposuction. Subcutaneous fat around the waist, inner thighs, and chin are cooled with the use of specialized applicators placed on the surface of the skin, freezing fat cells while leaving the rest of the area unharmed. These fat cells are then removed as waste over the following weeks by the body’s natural processes.
Because CoolSculpting is on the cutting edge of non-surgical fat reduction, that means it’s constantly improving. Unlike other treatments, which sell you the same results year after year in a slightly different package, CoolSculpting is always testing and revising its design and application. The release of the Cool Petite applicator, which we talked about in a recent post, is a perfect example of Zeltiq’s approach to fat loss.
The Cool Petite
CoolSculpting’s Cool Petite applicator is the first FDA-cleared treatment designed specifically for the underarm area. The applicator has been re-engineered, not just repackaged. It’s designed to tackle a problem that many people face, but which was hard to treat without the right tools.
With a smaller design, and custom contours that fit those hard-to-treat areas, the Cool Petite is way ahead of the pack when it comes to fat reduction treatments. And rather than completely redesigning the CoolSculpting system, Zeltiq has found a way to improve their original machine by adding applicators. This means more cost-effective treatments, which means the savings are passed on to the patient.
Their Results are Your Results
We’ve recently added a third CoolSculpting machine in order to keep up with the ever-increasing demand for this alternative fat loss treatment. I think the reason for our success with CoolSculpting has to do with CoolSculpting’s success in general. CoolSculpting isn’t just another way to lose fat.
It’s a better, more effective way to lose fat. It’s faster and cheaper than traditional fat loss treatments, in addition to being less invasive and less risky than surgical options.
The science, and the studies, bear out CoolSculpting’s success.
